Movie 10 [1080p]

[BuriBuri] Crayon Shin-chan – Movie 10 [1080p]

Long in need of an updated release, I present to you the 10th Crayon Shin-chan movie: The Storm Called: The Battle of the Warring States!

This movie is directed and written by Keiichi Hara, the same man who created the fan favorite movie 9 (the Adult Empire Strikes Back), as well as movies like Colorful and Miss Hokusai.

The video file is the same as my initial raw release.
A 720p version will be coming soon. I knew if I only released the 720p version though people would be up in arms. It’s honestly not worth it.

The extras are from the DVD release.

Sorry for the long wait! I present to you the 24th Crayon Shin-chan movie, Fast Asleep! The Great Assault on Dreamy World! Movies just take ages to finish subbing. It’s not easy working on something that is five-times the length of a normal episode. It’s tiring, but at least this movie is finally done!

I have two editions like usual, but with some extra stuff this time:

  • 1080p: 10-bit video with both 5.1 and 2.0 audio. Also included are textless versions of the opening and ending videos and a gallery of production art. The “collector’s edition.”
  • 720p: 8-bit video with 2.0 audio. No extras are included in the 720p torrent. The “no-frills edition.”

This is a heartfelt movie brought alive by Michio Mihara. While he didn’t direct (that credit goes to Wataru Takahashi), he did do the concept designs, storyboards, and some unit directing. If you check out the production art, he undoubtedly did the “background design” pictures as his style really shines through on those. If you’re not sure who Mihara is, he also did two of the spin-off series: Alien vs Shinnosuke and Lone Wolf and Cub, as well as worked on many titles alongside Masaaki Yuasa and Satoshi Kon. Check him out on Twitter. He posted a lot of designs and behind-the-scenes photos back when he was working on these titles.

I need to thank a few people for helping out with QC’ing this movie: megumi, Matze149, and bananadoyouwanna all looked over the movie for me. Thanks again!

Movie 25 comes out on Blu-ray this Friday (November 10th). I have already ordered the disc, but I do not plan on subbing it immediately. I might be willing to release a [BuriBuri-Raws] version of it though. We’ll see.

My current plan is to finish up Toy Wars and continue on with the TV series from episode 011.

Also, if you haven’t already done so, join us on the Discord server. We had to make a new one, so if you joined the older one and have just set idly, move on over to the new one linked above.

Anyway, no Shin-chan movie would be complete without the need for a long list of translation notes! Make sure to check them out, perhaps after you watch the movie.

Here at last, I present to you the 23rd movie of the Crayon Shin-chan franchise: “My Moving Story: The Great Cactus Attack!”  It’s one of the longer Shin-chan movies, clocking in at 104 minutes (or an hour and forty-four minutes) long!

The subs for this have been in the works for over a year, but they sat untouched for awhile. I finally decided I just needed to finish it up and put it out since I know you’ve guys have been waiting for it.

The 1080p file both 5.1 and 2.0 audio, while the 720p file only has 2.0. I’d also like to thank Collectr for his help in looking it over!

I am planning on doing movie 24, but I have barely started on it… and it’s currently towards the back of my planned things to work on. My next goal is to finish Alien vs Shinnosuke, and then there are some other assorted things I’d like to work on before fully jumping into movie 24.

Some translation notes follow below as usual!

And it’s out! Our first release! A hilarious, yet touching family movie that I hope you all enjoy!

I started working on this movie sometime in August. I knew Shin-chan was largely unsubbed, so I thought I would take a stab at subbing -something- of it. The TV series is extremely daunting, so I decided to go with a movie instead. The majority of the films actually have been subbed, with varying degrees of quality, but the newest one hadn’t been touched yet. Looking at the staff credits, I saw that the script was written by Kazuki Nakashima, the mind behind Kill la Kill and Gurren Lagann. With that name alone, I decided to tackle this film.

After I finished translating and timing the movie, I was lucky enough to get convexity to check over it over. He helped a ton with all the puns, jokes and references — the toughest part in trying to translate this series. I then asked Collectr, one to never overlook something unsubbed, if he would be willing to edit. Of course he accepted! I tried to look for a typesetter, but couldn’t find anyone that would work on Shin-chan, so I did it myself. Thus some signs are typesetted, while the more complicated ones are just an8’d. Quality checking is usually where movies can stall for a long time; however, Calyrica, bananadoyouwanna, and Matze149 all came through for me and helped out in this department.

I want to thank all of them for their help.

Are we doing more? Of course! I’ll be making a blog post in a bit talking about what we’re working on, and where I need some help. But, yes, we are working on Movie 23. I am looking for a translation checker for things besides Movie 23 though! I’m also looking for any HDTV raws of the TV series. I only have a handful of them, but I know more exist.

Translation notes for this release follow after the break, but be aware there are some very mild spoilers.
